just bought john. 15hp (1980) SOMETIMES THE it gets hung up and wont engage flywheel when starting, cant even pull rope. taking the cover off there is a lever i found that i can pull back on by hand to get it to engage. dont know much about boat motors but looks to me like the linkage is...
the pinion like gear that pops up and engages the flywheel when you pull the cord to start the engine is stripped out, not the teeth but the slot that rides up and down the pin. it still works but evry time i start it i gota pull the cover and lift it up by hand to get it engaged. can anyone...
