Is this screw the mixture adjustment on this carb? '98 30hp. Just had someone rebuild carb, I don't think he adjusted it correctly and it is running very rich now. Not gonna take it back to the guy as I ended up getting into it with him on something and am done with him.
Anyway, is the...
Does everyone change both exhaust gaskets every time you do a water pump or have the LU down for some other reason?
Just did my pumps, shift shaft and drive shaft seals and it was suggested I replace both the upper and lower exhaust gaskets before putting the LU back up. The current ones are at...
I have 2004 200's. I've been told you can clean/lube up the shift shaft around the seal down in the LU or even put a new seal in and it will help with it sticking up when going in an out of neutral and sticking up on the shift interrupt switch.
Have the issue every now and then, but getting...
This engine has been running fine all season. I pulled the boat out of the water, got it home and hooked it up to muffs to flush it out, it ran no problem on the muffs while flushing. I pulled the fuel line to run it out of fuel because it was going to sit for a few weeks until I could get...
Boat got pulled out for winter this weekend, I had the engine covers off to winterize and noticed a bunch of grease looked like it was slung onto some hoses and wires behind the flywheel of the starboard engine. Looked underneath the flywheel and saw it was pretty greasy under there. When I...
After a bunch of rain earlier in the week and the bilge pump running probably non stop for hours on end (13' Whaler), I went to go out last night and the battery was dead..or just about. It had enough left in it to just barely crank the engine over enough, the engine fires off with barely a turn...
Sticker on the bracket shows QL77JC4 as the plug to use, and that's what is in it, (I just bought it). The gaps were open to over .050 so I am just going to get new plugs.
This chart shows I can use QL77JC4, L78V or QL82C. Is there any reason to try one of the other's instead of the QL77JC4...

I have a '98 30hp Evinrude. It's an electric start but I've wondered if it will start using the rope wrapped around the flywheel if the battery died. Obviously you still need the ignition switch turned on, but if the battery was dead would it still start? I kind of always figured the rope...
One of the tilt/run springs broke on me, you can see it missing in the top of this picture (which is really the port side of the engine), sorry not the best picture. I have the broken spring, with the bottom hook/loop missing. Where would I be able to get one of these springs and more...
These are the drain plugs off of my '04 Evinrude 200's (FICHT). The first pic is the Stbd and the second 2 pics are the port side...I attached 2 for the port side since it looks worse than the Stbd..
Does this seem like an excessive amount of metal shavings on these plugs? This was the first...
I have 3 batts on my boat, 2 starting and one house. Bought the boat this year and realized the PO had 690CA Deep Cycle batteries in it, all 3 are the same and they're Interstate's. It has twin '04 Evinrude DI's on it and they require 1,000CA for starting, so I am going to replace the batts...

I bought a new to me boat this Spring with twin '04 Evinrude DI 200's on it. They start OK but not really as OK as I think they should. Stumble a bit and stall once or twice before they smooth out and run fine, this is cold, they start fine when warm.
Anyway it sounded to me like they were not...
First year with this engine and I've been looking around the site at old posts about EFI fogging. It seems as though spraying fogging oil through the intake isn't a good idea due to sensors, although I don't see any sensors that would be in my intake, plus taking the cover off involves 12 allen...
