    i have a chance to by a 1994 roughneck by omc with a 88 spl evinrude..<br /><br />first question-had did they come up with 88hp.<br /><br />second question-what does the spl mean...<br /><br />third question-this boat is in great shape..has a great trailer...is 4500.00 too much...

    mercury classic fifty {86 model

    well lets make a long story short...went crappie fishing yesterday...motor ran great...was really putting it throught paces, because it had only been in water twice in 2 years...returning to boat ramp...running wide open..it started to act like it was spinning .. no power...cut motor off started...
