    85 omc 4.3, off idle stumble?

    When I jump on the throttle to pull up a skier, I get a slight cough and then it takes of like a bat outa hell. What would cause this hiccup or stumble. It doesn't sound like a backfire through the carb just a slight "whump" and then it goes. What do you think? Thanks Chet
