All my buddies told me if I ran my boat for long enough I'd eventually hit something no matter how careful I was and either they're right or I'm not as careful as I thought I was. I was cruising down Canyon Lake yesterday and struck a floating log that had made it about 60 or 70 feet offshore...
Just had my old 1976 Johnson 85 HP V4 restored by a mechanic. It was my grandfather's and I don't know much about boats/outboards so I took it to a pro but from here out I want to do things myself. He built a new fuel line using ethanol resistant lines and a new bulb and installed one of the...
Re: 1972 Invader Capri CA-15
My boat is an Invader Capri Hull that was bought bare by a local boat builder in Giddings and customized. It's a 17' 1977, but I'll post pics. I know a lot of the Capris in the 70s had a metalflake gelcoat that would be really hard to restore/replace. You can see it...
So, I have what was my grandfather's boat, a 1977 17' trihull with a 1976 Johnson 85HP V4 and it has no bilge pump. I've noticed that they seem like a pretty standard feature on all new boats. Should I add one? If so, should it be on a float switch or manual? Since she's only ever on the little...
Ok, so I'm having my grandfather's 1977 17' Trihull (I think it was an Invader Capri) restored and she should be back out on the water later this season. I'm trying to decide what my winter project should be since it seems every boat owner has to have one. I'm considering upgrading to two...
Re: What do you pull your boat with?
I have a 17' Trihull Bowrider from 1977 and we own a 2002 Chrysler Sebring and a 2008 Toyota Camry. That said, we borrow my step-dad's 2009 Dodge Ram anytime we take the boat out, which works because the boat stays in their barn. We plan on buying an SUV...
I've got my grandfather's boat and I'm finally getting around to restoring it. It's a 17' 1977 Tri Hull that I'm pretty sure was an Invader Capri hull purchased bare and customized by a boat shop other than Invader in Giddings, TX. I took it to a shop that came very highly recommended by some...
Re: bimini up or down
My top attaches to the top of the windshield and so we almost never run with it up, there's only like 4' of clearance underneath. You can't move around at all with it up.
I have a tri hull boat that was manufactured in Giddings, TX in 1977. The identifying info for it is an original Lonestar logo decal on the stern quarter on both sides that has fine print underneath that says "by General Fiberglass mfg, Giddings, TX" and it looks JUST LIKE a mid to late 70s...
Re: Official Business of the 3V Club ( aka tri hull club )
Hey guys, I had no idea there were so many people who loved tri hulls! My Tri hull was my grandfather's and when he passed away my grandmother gave it to me because she couldn't sell it since it needed the transom replaced. That was in...
Ok, I've been looking all over the internet trying to definitively identify this boat and I'm hoping you guys can help me. It was my grandfather's boat and when he passed away when I was in high school I went out to Lake LBJ in Texas and brought it from the boathouse to the trailer with water in...
