I have a 40 hp Yamaha that I need to check the oil level in the lower end. It is a model 40TLBR, Serial number 6H4-L-1002356. Where do I check the level and how to fill, and what oil? I'm used to Mericursers, new to outboards. Thanks

Engine Number OD608617
I removed the sterndrive to replace the u-joints, and gimbal bearing. Placed the shifter in forward gear. After reinstalling it. The drive is now stuck in forward. No matter where the shifter is. It will even start in while it is like this. Any ideal?
