the numbers on the horn are 3857046 (volvo pents/OMC number) and below that 75007 and below that 1287. Those last 2 sets of numbers don't seem to mesh with any Holley numbers I could find.
My carb is 4 barrel 4160. And thanks for your responses. BTW: I mis-stated the vacuum rating of the replacement power valve. It was 2.5 in hg, not 1.5. I plan to test the old 5.0 power valve today and may reinstall it if it tests OK.
My new to me 1997 Larson 186 with the Volvo Penta 4.3 GS runs a little rough at idle but more importantly when quickly accelerating over 3500 rpm there is a distinct pause/hesitation befor true acceleration occurs. Throughout the upper rpm range there is ample power and with slow throttle...
Just rebuilt 1973 Mercruiser 140. Engine running great but I now find the outdrive upper gercase is shot. I have a working Alpha one 1.84 upper gearcase (would swap the shorter yoke shaft from the original "R" /pre-alpha upper gearcase with the longer one on the Alpha one) and was wondering if...
Just completed a rebuild on a Mercruiser 140 3.0L GM engine. The engine is running great - still running out of boat on blocks - but oddly per my infrared thermometer the cylinder #1 manifold runs MUCH hotter than the other three (once that specific spot on the manifold gets to 180 or 190 I...
Re: motor mounts Mercruiser 3.7L
Hey, thanks Bondo. I was thinking I needed to purchase an alignment bar. I also found this very cool dimensional PDF that I'll attach for anyone that might find it helpful.
I inherited a boat restoration project from a guy and, unfortunately, he didn't take pictures as he disassembled the hull. What I have now is a completely gutted hull so I have no way of knowing what the original motor mounting structure was to which the 1986 Mercruiser 3.7L 170HP front and...
Scoured the forum and did not find a solution to my problem so here goes. I just purchased a 1986 Mercruiser 3.7L 170 HP as part of a restoration project. The previous gave up on the project and I thought what the heck, why not?! The engine/outdrive were removed from the boat so I set out to...
Re: Force 125 tilt/trim pump bypass valve
Well I did a lot more than tap it and it did not budge. Maybe after the Liquid Wrench...later.
Hope you're still online Jiggz or Pnwboat. I went ahead and removed the anterior shuttle valve from the Chinese pump now on the boat. This is the end that...
Just rebuilt tilt cylinder and shock absorber. Since shock absorber is not hydraulically controlled by tilt/trim pump, about how much oil should I pour in before reinstall for average running conditions?
I screwed up a bit when installing a new tilt/trim pump on my Force 125 motor. BTW the pump/motor was from JB Electric TRM8000 pump. Pump/motor went on fine but as I commenced the bleeding process immediately the oil seen through the fill hole became milky. So I thought it best to just try to...
Just acquired a 1989 Bayliner with 125HP Force. This boat had been sitting for at leat 2 years so I expected the worst (but got a sweet deal so why not?!). A number of relatively minor issues need to be addressed but first attempt at starting and the motor would barely crank with fresh...
