Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

I get what you're saying. But the 12.6 volts from the battery turns into 11.7 v on the other side of the fuse, all the way through the Cannon plug, to the slave solenoid, the engine circuit breaker, to the ignition switch. I'm just feeding that circuit 12.6v. It works, but I agree, confusing...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

I havent attacked the fuse yet, only because t's really difficult to get to, and I'm not a young, or limber (or small) man anymore, but I'm going to replace it soon. My thoughts on why it worked, remembering i am, let's say, an advanced novice on electrical. First, it worked to jump anywhere...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

Update!!! The Cannon plug still had only 11.7 V on the pur/red wire. Going to the 90 amp fuse on the starter...had 12.6 v to the battery (#1) but only 11.7 on the back side (#2). Ordering a new fuse, and jumped a wire to the Ignition switch in the mean time.

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

What are the possibilities of a bad 90 amp fuse causing a low voltage condition? Seems like everything from that point has low voltage. The starter was replaced, but not the 90 amp fuse. Can it be tested for resistance?

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

The more I think about this (which can be scary) the issue must be between the battery and the engine harness plug. Here's why I think that. Need your thoughts on this... Every point that is hot in the starting circuit, at the starter (yel/red), the circuit breaker, the hot side of the...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

I fully intend to pull the harness plug apart, but in the mean time, will it hurt anything to jump a wire from clean 12V to the ignition switch for a temporary solution? I can easiky get a clean 12V to the ignition switch. Does it matter where it comes from? All circuit breakers, and the...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

Is the ignition switch fed from the battery through the plug, and then ba I will. Like it said, temporary...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

Is it hurting anything to use a jumper wire temporarily? I wouldn't think so, but...

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

I'll try that. Does it make a difference that feeding good 12v to the ignition switch completely fixes it?

Low Voltage to the Ignition Switch

Hey all, I've been chasing a problem and have it isolated. Maybe you can fet me over the hump. 98 350 Mag Mpi B3 set up. new batteries fully charged, new battery cables, starter, starter solenoid, alternator bla bla bla. I have 11.6/11.7V at the ignition switch, and thus to the solenoid...

    Bad Engine Ground?

Great information from everyone! These are some of the best responses I've ever gotten to a problem. Thanks you!!! I did ad a ground cable as a last minute impromptu thi g to try, which seemed to help, but I attached it to a bracket, so I'm going to find a better spot on the block. Then...

    Bad Engine Ground?

I have one more question....or two. I am somewhat confident a bad engine ground is my problem. Aside from changing the ground cable, is there a way to test this to validate? Next, would adding a ground cable suffice or does the primary need to be replaced?

    Bad Engine Ground?

Because the back of the block is so difficult to get to, why can't I move it? Does it have to be there? Do my symptoms sound like this could be the culprit?

    Rustoleum or not

I used Rutoleum on an old hull once and it turned out great. I was advised to thin it like crazy, and it went on smooth and had a great shine. Probably not as important in a bilge.

    boarding ladder

I went with a 4 step telescoping ladder mounted under the swim step. Love it!
