    40 hp 2cyl. 81 merc very very weak spark.

    Ive got an 81 40 hp merc 2 cylinder that I have replaced the switch box, ignition stator, disconnected the mercury switch, checked all wiring to no avail. Im not sure about the trigger, it ohm d out at 750 ohms, the specs say 800 to 1000 in the manual I have. could a weak reading on this part...

    1980 model mercury 40 hp outboard

    can anyone possibly give me some advice! I have an 81 mercury 40 hp outboard that I have replaced the ignition stator, the switch box, and now I have a very very weak spark. The trigger tested at 740 ohms and it was so close to the low end of the specs I assumed it would work. Can anybody chime...
