    25hp water pump housing

    hi guys, just got all my parts for the water pump on a 25hp t1 evinrude, all parts are correct, checked all part numbers etc, but the problem is putting the gearcase back on. its all lined up with the key way and water pipe etc, but just wont go any further. so when looking at it again i noticed...

    hydrofoil fins?

    hope this is the right forum, and i have given them the correct name, anyway, i bought my outboard with these on, its a 25 hp "71". it will be on a 15ft open top fishing boat which we also use for diving, my question is,....are these things needed? i took them off for fitting my new water...
