    power pack or stator

    I have a 77 merc 150 and have a problem with it dying after it has been running for 15 minutes, on the water, and it will not dye if it out of water in gear at 0r about 3 to 4 grand on tach. It will only do it when it has a load on it in the water.Can some one help me narrow this down to one...

    75 mercury outboard stator or switch box

    my motor runs fine until it hits water,It runs smooth, full throttle for about 15 min.then it dies.And it will not fire back up for about 45 min. on a hot day.Fires back up and it might run for 10 min,then dies.No fire nothing but it will still turn over.Could this be a stator or a switch box...
