Anyone have a Grumman 14 ft (4.4 Meter)? Need pictures!

I just bought a nice 1984 14 ft. Grumman deep V Utility boat. I think these were also known as the 4.4 Meter. I need to see how the transom is put together. Do you have one, and could you take some detailed pictures of the transom for me? Thanks, Dave

    Where are all the inflatables?

Are the floor and the keel separate pieces? In your picture, it looks permanently attached. I assume that's not the removable part. I'm trying to understand how it all goes together.

    Where are all the inflatables?

I am starting to look more closely at the Sea Eagle Sport Runabouts, and am impressed. The drop stitch floor looks like an impressive feature. Their website talks about the inflatable floor as a separate piece. Is that correct? I assumed it was all constructed together with the rest of the...

    Where are all the inflatables?

I found Defender, and they have a big selection of established brands in stock, and good prices, and a showroom that's not too far from me. I'm leaning toward the Zodiac Cadet 310 Aero, which looks like it would be really quick to inflate and set up. I'm looking for something I can transport to...

    Where are all the inflatables?

I have owned a few boats over the years and am have always like the idea of inflatables. I am thinking again about getting one to carry in our camper when we travel. A small one, probably an airfloor. Some years ago when I was looking at them it seemed there were a few large online dealers...

Older Merc 150 2 stroke really rough below 3000 RPM

Well, it was carbs, clogged with debris from the ethanol-damaged fuel line. I had them rebuilt and it runs much better now. The boat I was considering before this one had a brand new 140 Suzuki on it that ran incredibly smooth and quiet, and I got a bit spoiled. Outboards have come a long way...

Older Merc 150 2 stroke really rough below 3000 RPM

Compression is all within a few pounds of 120. This boat may have sat for a year or more with untreated Ethanol fuel in it. This is a recipe for damaged, not just dirty carbs.

Older Merc 150 2 stroke really rough below 3000 RPM

I went to 3 different boat repair places today and the third guy was exactly what I was looking for. An independent guy who seems to be well regarded. I liked that I could chat with him about it, rather than just surrender the boat over at some marina service counter. He seemed to know the...

Older Merc 150 2 stroke really rough below 3000 RPM

I just bought a boat with a 2000 Merc 150 2 Stroke, carbureted. Compression is good, and consistent between cylinders. It runs really rough at idle, and all the way up to almost 3000 RPM. Above that it runs smoothly, sounds great, and pulls hard. When I pull back on the throttle and drop the...

A different "Can't attach shift shaft" question

Well it looks like Racerone had the correct answer, even though it annoyed me at first, because I had looked it over very carefully. But then, I noticed, way up at the top toward the powerhead there is a little slot, and I could see the shift shaft running through it. I was able to poke a...

A different "Can't attach shift shaft" question

Soap isn't a bad idea. But I can't help but believe I am missing something simple and obvious. Certainly a Mercury mechanic, working on these every day, doesn't have to do some bizarre trick to do such a routine maintenance task.

A different "Can't attach shift shaft" question

Oh, yeah. I just realized it is a separate chamber where the gear lube is.

A different "Can't attach shift shaft" question

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, that's the way I am doing it now, because it's a lot easier to see everything. But the shaft from the power head still wobbles around randomly. I can try to align it so it appears centered, but any little movement and it flops over to one side or the other...

A different "Can't attach shift shaft" question

Thanks for the reply. Unless I am missing something, I can't find where there would be any access from the front. In the pictures, the arrow is pointing to the upper coupler up in the mid section. And then two others showing the outside of the mid section. Which is solid except for that little...
