    Hope to get more response than prior posts.<br /><br />Evinrude 70hp 1978 bought sat for two years....had good compression (need to recheck so don't ask) rebuilt carbs, replaced fuel filter. Engine then idled and moved in gear but died on throttle up....choking the engine I could get throttle...

    Let's see....replaced the water pump good, replaced starter better, new spark plugs, new fuel pump, new cables .......rebuilt carbs per SELOC manual, replaced prop fixed spun hub...boat planes....(thanks for help all on that one.!!!)<br /><br />engine now will idle in gear, and once in a while...

    evinrude choke

    Hi all,<br /><br />Problem when giving the throttle to this wonderful old motor. I have isolated it to the fact that the choke is not shutting down the carb barrels as I throttle her....wondering if this is the electric solenoid's task or if it is mechanical...there is a stiff wire on the middle...
