    mercruiser 470 starter turning over slow

    i have a 87 mercruiser 470 we changed the starter and the new one makes a hard grinding sound similar to a old big block chevy starter noise and turns over slowly.also how do you tell if you have a counter clockwise engine??

    force 85 wiring diagram

    i rently took off ignition switch and dont know what to do with the blue or white wire.there are no terminals for them on my new switch
