I have a Force 120 - and the Impeller only lasts about a season. Is this normal or is
should it last much longer - I hear of motors going thru several years of boating without
changing an impeller. It seems that the bottom of the impeller is the only place I can see that
is worn...
I have been listening to copus and G Dane talk about overheating problems and have
learned a lot. It sounds like there are 2 different water jackets. One of which water
flows around the cylinders and one that flows thru the head jacket. it also sounds
like the Thermostat...
What should the normal running temperature of a Force 120 engine be? Im' thinking about
taking the Thermostat out to eliminate any problems during my vacation. Does the Thermostat
really make that much difference in engine performance?

Thanks!
OK - I think I have the operation of the Thermostat down pretty good. The Thermostat is at the end of the engine where the water exits. The Thermostat when it is cold blocks the water flow except for a small amont of bleeding to keep the sensor active. If that is true why does the water come out...
How is a Thermostat suppose to work - I know it keeps the engine at a certain
temperature by blocking the flow of water thru the block jackets - however here
is what I think I know. When the engine is cold or below temperature the thermo
is closed - does it completely block the...
This is for Dan K - I will try putting in the pisser - however you did not say what you
found out to be your chronic overheating problem - my guess is a design problem
making it sensative to water flowing in the engine.
Also the 2 holes at the back are for exhaust relief not...
Is there something I'm missing here - other than its a Force engine. The darn thing
runs great its just so touchy when it comes to keeping it cool. Last week I was in a
Lake - got into a slightly weedy area and the darn thing overheats. When I got it home
- took the lower unit...

I have a Minnkota Trolling Motor with a Transom Mount. I would like to use it on
the front of my Fiberglas boat. Is there a conversion kit that anyone knows of that
will allow me to mount this in a bow mount fashion. Or does anyone have
another solution?

Thanks!
I have a Force 1994 120HP - would like to add a water temp gauge. The sender is giving me a problem. The only spot I can see is a plastic plug on top near the Thermostat. This opening is a 3/8" hole. Unfortunately I cant find a sender with a 3/8" thread. Went to US boats and the smallest they...
Having trouble with the water coming out of the Pee Hole when the ears are connected. In the
Lake the water pump works just fine. However periodically the water does not come out of the
Pee holes when the ears are connected during maintenance. The pump is brand new and works
...
Is running an outboard close to maximum RPM for any length of time a good idea. If I have a 5500 maximum RPM limit - what is that telling me. Is that the absolute maximum I can run the engine or as long as I dont run it over that threshold I'm OK. I can take a guess and say that the lower the...
I heard that a temperature gauge is worth the effort to add it to your boat. I would think that if the horn sounds it maybe too late for the motor. If it is easy enough how do you attach the gauge to the to the motor. I would think a sender would have to be purchased along with the gauge. Store...
I have a force 120HP engine - this weekend I got the overheat horn and noticed no water shooting out where it should be. I'm assuming its the water pump. I have a good mechanical background - is replacing the water pump a task for an expert or is it easy enough for me to attempt> is it possible...
