    2001 225 lower unit swap w/ 88 200 unit?

    What do the experts think about the liklihood of a straight swap of the 2 lower units. Today I was running at about 4200 RPM and it was like it just jumped out of gear no forward or reverse and it is free no feel at all. I have a 88 200 that is the same shaft lenght.

    VRO Tank Wires?

    I have just replaced the motor and wire harness on my 2001, 225 Johnson and don't know where the 2 wires from the oil tank go, I would think that one is a ground and the other is a switched hot, I am just not sure where to bring them in to the harness. Everything else has plugs and conectors...

    Running an outboard on a stand

    I have my 225 on a stand and would like to start it and run the trim/tilt. I have hooked up the battery so I could do the compression check but don’t know what else I need to hook up to get spark, I’ll mix fuel and can hook up a spare tank but as far as electrical I have no clue. Any thoughts?
