    Agree with your comments. I was very confident that the the cable shouldn't have stretched or slipped at the drive, but I loosened the nut, adjusted the cable back and all seems good at the moment. I will monitor it.

    2008 Chaparral 236 ssx - what is the storage area for on the swim platform??

    Bought a new to me 236 ssx and on the opposite site of the ladder lid, there is another lid with a storage compartment. It has a drain that drains outside, but it is really always full of water as the outside drain is typically below the water line. Is it for beverages? Or what?

    250 dinghy on the back of a 8.5' beam?

    I currently have a 240 RIB on the back of my Maxum 2400, but it is time to replace. I have a deal on a 250RIB, but pretty concerned on the size as a 8'2" dinghy is worrisome at the dock. Anyone else have a similar size dinghy?

    All that is stamped on the prop is "8.5". No other markings. I know it is a 8.5" diameter, but I assume the stamp is for the pitch? I want to drop about 1" in pitch and I think Tohatsu makes 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5 pitch sizes, while Solas has all pitches at 7, 8, or 9. I just want to know if I should...

    Empty drive oil reservoir, can I simply fill the reservoir with oil, or from bottom

    Drained all oil from old drive, installed brand new drive, full of oil from factory. It came with a small bottle of oil for the reservoir.     Mercury sterndrive serial# OW505786...can anyone tell me what type and gear ratio?

    It is off my 04 Rinker Captiva 192 with a 5.0L. I am having difficulty with RPM and speed. Tach is set correctly on V8 but it is indicating 5000 RPM turning a 14 x 23P prop and 42 MPH. Something isn't right, so plan to check with a tachometer but really would like the sterndrive info as well...
