2006 Verado 175
My FSM is making a squeaking noise while on muffs. Sounds like the pump cycling. I can't hear it in the water.
Is there a troubleshooting guide so I can tell which pump it is? Or should I just clean screens and chance it?
Don't want to just throw parts at it.
Its been a while. But I had a crank no start issue before.
Sort of the same symptoms. I was getting 12V to the relay bit it would do something funky when I tried to crank. I want to say the voltage dropped low to the pump on the out of the relay.
I'm pretty sure it ended up being nothing to do...
Its possible. I would think with the cover loose water would still be going in the bilge but I've never run with a loose cover nor am I going to.
But it overheated so prolly gotta do the head gaskets and hopefully nothing else.
Guess lesson learned if it runs hot stop.
Yes check manifolds. Prolly one of the cheaper fixes if thats it. How did you test it to 50psi without removing them.
If not could be head gasket or cracked block. Do you live somewhere were it needs to be winterized?
Try just pushing on the plug for the harness at the motor.
My original one the plastic was hard and warped. It would not stay on good even with a hose clamp. Sometimes engine would start and sometimes I had to push the plug back in a little.
I ended up heating it with a heat gun a little and...
Its just setting initial timing. Its not going to be perfect but should get it running if everything else is working.
What I did in a nut shell.
Rotate the engine to TDC on the Compression Stroke of the #1 cylinder.
Both valves should be closed.
Install the Degree Wheel on the crankshaft...
Don't assume anything when troubleshooting.
Set that timing again. I'd also change the plugs instead of just cleaning its cheap.
I've had the same issue before. I'd admit I didn't check timing before hand but it was running. Went out one day and started at the launch then died and could not get...
Check oil.
When my manifold started leaking it ran fine all day trolling. When we came to back to the dock and brought it back down to idle for the first time all day it died.
Got it to start back up at the wash down but it was rough.
Cracks, rust.
I locked up #6 because of leaking manifold. Tried to stretch them one more season and that was a bad idea.
Luckily got it un-stuck and running just fine.
