Just got the motor and the power tilt was working but leaking. The owner has been ill and had not used it in a while and speculated that the seals gave out., So I get it home and it went up slowly with help. I topped off the fluid and now it will not raise. The tilt motor runs though. I cannot...
I was looking for an aluminum boat for local Florida lakes. Ran across a 14' Collins Craft fiberglass boat. I am not familiar with aluminum repair but have done fiberglass. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand. I already did a search and came up with little info. The boat...

Well, I bought Seacast last fall but it got cold real fast and I went to Florida so... When I returned this May I resumed my progress. Did a final cleanup, lined weak spots in transom with 1708 and poly per Seacast instructions, braced transom and did the pour. This stuff is...
I am looking at a 1989 Lowe 20' pontoon boat. Boat itself - deck - seats - carpeting - railings - is in decent shape for the money - I expect to pay $3200 for boat, 50HP Johnson VRO (VRO disconnected) and Magictilt trailer (galvanized). U shaped pontoons. Deck 2 years old. There are a couple of...
Hello. Not an experienced tow-er. Have a 16' McKee Waccamaw on older Shoreline trailer. IN middle of transom repair and have hollowed out and reinforced transom for Seacast pour but got to cold here to finish the job and was planning to finish in Florida when I arrive there. Have engine and...
when I am not working on Transom I started sanding bottom paint off the hull. So far the hull is in very nice shape. Since this will be in the water no more tha 4 - 5 hours at a time 4 months a year, I plan to use WOG's tractor paint on topside and hull.
. .Well the work on the transom continues. Spoke to Sabina Unger from Seacast with some questions. She called me as a result of an e-mail question I sent, Her father invented the stuff. So gracious with her time on the phone. Their Tech Support has been a godsend and this I feel differentiates...
Tried to add this to an existing thread but getting "empty response" so starting a new one. A past thread was also deleted mysteriously. So..
McKee is similar in construction to whalers. No stringers, foam used as structural support. Have been in touch with Key McKee, the CEO of the original...
Looking at many paint threads on a search. I have a 1979 16' McKee Waccamaw I am restoring - photo attached. I want to keep cost down but do not want foolish economy. Boat is in PA right now but will be taken to Florida this winter. Will paint before we leave. Currently the boat has original...
I put up a thread on this a few days ago and it seems to have disappeared. I got a lot of good feedback. Today I pulled the engine off and as I knew the transom is shot. The good news is that the glass is a full 1/4" thick! And the wood is so bad that it should come out clean. Separates from the...
Looking at a boat with this motor. I have done about everything to a car engine that can be done so engines do not scare me. On this one - what is general opinion of this model? Are parts still available? It has not been run in a long time - never a good thing - but how reliable were these in...
Re: 1978 17' Mckee offshoreman - opinions
This is about the best photo I have of it. Trailer is included. But I post the question to get responses from folks with more knowledge than I have and to ignore it is wasting everones time. I have not seen this in person as I am not in Florida at...
Hello. Have a chance to get a 1978 mckee offshoreman. 17 foot. Hull supposedly solid but I have a fellow going to check it out - I am not in Florida at the moment and the boat is. Anyone have any experience with this make / model / year? Supposedly like a whaler but heavier. Anything especially...
