    Merc 5.7 hydraulic lifter enigma

all lifters was disassembled, cleaned and checked. Then engine have some 2-3 hours ride. I don't remember, is it working in the begin. But how is it possible - most spraying lifter on SAE30 to be less spraying on 25W-40 ?! You see on video how it is working with SAE30! And what oil should be...

    Merc 5.7 hydraulic lifter enigma

Hello to all, I have strange problem - one of the lifters seems doesn't send oil to pushrod. Sprayed with WD40, hammer & swearing used on pushrod to loose if stuck - no luck! Valve was loosen a bit, not to damage it and decide to change the oil with thin SAE30(half litre gasoline added to be...

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

I will start with the measuring of the current Z-drive ratio. Unfortunately, boat is not near, and for the moment I can't even measure :( For the WOT - I'was afraid to stay on WOT, after the boat is on speed - engine seems can even more. Other strange thing is, that big ventures of the quadrajet...

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

Very nice boat! Sure, our CV-27 can't be so fast, but I want to make it near to the specifications :)

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

Sure, no way 1.5:1 drive & 14x23" 4blade prop, to permit engine such rpms. My question is: What can expect, if I put 25" prop, to compensate bigger reduction(probably 1.81) Sorry, I was not clear in prev. post - we have some Alpha 1 gen 1 with unknown ratio, it should be 1.47 for this engine...

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

Yes, You are right, but we have no original MC1, and the nearest Alpha is 1.47. Now we have 23" prop, which permits 5000rpms(and more) I am curious, if we put 25" prop - rpms should be reduced by 300 - 400, and we will be near to the rpm limit, not away. But is it good idea, to compensate...

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

    Now I see, for the 260hp V8 ratio should be 1.47 https://www.sterndrivereplacement.com/product/sterndrive-mercruiser/alpha-one-gen-1/complete-sei-106/gear-chart/

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

No, this is original Glastron Carlson CV-27, sold in Germany. With ONE mercruiser 260 5.7L V8, and sterndrive should be MC1. I found same configuration in Swiss(even same paint). I see in magazines, CV-27 sold with twin Merc 260 from the beginning. Only few test boats made with one engine. I...

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

Yes, all You said is true. It's possible we have some err in speedometer, unfortunately on the last rides I compared with the GPS and it corresponds (american miles per hour, not knots). Here it is on around 3500 I'm thinking also about exhaust gases around propeller.... There was also a bit...

Exhaust valve. About seals - must inspect them too. About the lots of possibilities - worn stem surface - solved with the stem-hat made on lathe :)

Original sterndrive ratio for the Glastron/Carlson CV-27

Thank You! We didn't count, and we will(now I'm far away). Other strange thing - our first ridings with solas 4x14X21 seems to go to 30mph on 4000 rpm, engine was not so powerfull. And now we have power, propeller merc spitfire 4x14x23, but speed seems less...
