    70 h.p merc, to gap or not to gap?

    I just bought 3 ngk plugs from the local boat dealer, when I asked if they were pre gapped he said they were close enough and to just thow them in. Is this true or should I find the specs and gap them?

    Can someone tell me if the merc control unit for a 1972 65h.p engine is set up to run a tach off it, or does a pick up need to be set up on the engine, or do all engines have this pick up installed as a factory component?

    needle and seat

    I just took apart my carburator to inspect the needle and seat only to find out that the needle was stuck. Once I removed it, it looked fine. My question is whether I need to replace the needle and seat, or can I just let it sit in a carburator cleaner overnight? I think the needle was stuck...

    how difficult is it to de gum the needle and seat in a 82 merc 3 cyl. I am fairly mechanically inclined but I don't want to attempt it if I have to readjust the carbs or anything like that.
