I have 13+ volts on one of the wires from the stator at the rectifier and no power on the other wire from stator. I have 13+ on the red wire from rectifier to switch box. With motor running battery voltage slowly drops. Is my stator bad or could it be something else? Any help would be great. Thanks.

I have a silver motor from 72 and all other ones i have seen are the black motor. Is there much difference between the motors? I have read some articles about the silver ones being better. Any thoughts?

I am replacing all the decals on my 65 merc and i have read that laquer thinner will remove the adhesive and the decal will come off, i just want to make sure that its not going to damage the chrome finish. Any other ideas that are good for removal?
The motor runs great while i am holding the key in the crank position but as soon as i let go of the key it dies. No spark when pull starting. Any ideas what the problem might be? Im new to this forum so i will say hi and thanks for any info.
