    New reman motor all specs were checked by qc before it left the warehouse I’d hope they weren’t messed up but like I said boat runs great after first initial backfire. It’s not constant just on initial movement of shifter in neutral.

    That’s what I was thinking but replaced diaphragm and check ball seems to get a decent shot making adjustments to the arm doesn’t cause any change either

    Engine backfires thru carburetor only on initial acceleration off idle. Will run all day beautifully at 2k -4k, idles perfectly just spit and backfires every time I give it gas clears and runs.. out of water. In the water that initial “cough” stalls the engine every time. This is a brand new...

    Thanks man. Yeah looking at just getting a whole new 3.0 well reman the head doesn’t look all that great. Either might as well replace it and forget it. Instead of fighting with it every time I take the boat out.

    3.0 gm just took the head off gasket looked good piston heads didn’t look washed nice carbon on them. I’m gonna say cracked block internally?

    Well I’ve got a 1991 Caravelle Classic 1750 with an I/O OMC cobra and I’ve got water mixing with the oil. I’ve replaced riser and had manifold checked, no water on plugs boat runs great. Except for the oil being extremely contaminated with water added almost a quart in 25 minutes on the water...
