    impeller key 73 evinrude 40 hp

    In an attempt to help a friend replace a impeller on a boat that is new to him, we ordered a new impeller, removed the gear case and pump housing, but found the impeller key missing--no problem we can get a new one. Upon closer inspection, the drive shaft does not have a slot for a woodruff...

    '71 40hp johnson water pump

    I recently acquired a 71 40 Hp Evinrude and got her cranked and running. My question is how do you know if the water pump is pumping without the motor overheating and doing damage?--is there a tell tale? I want to run it more to test all the functions but I don't want to over heat it...
