I'll try that. I do "north up" on the bike and it makes more sense that way. I'm real new to the fishfinder and I can do okay with the sonar but I'm still trying to get the hang of the GPS. With no roads in the lake it's hard to keep a point of reference.
OK, so if I'm backing up for a while it would show the boat icon backwards, even though the bow is still in front of me. I've seen it spinning but I didn't know what it meant. And the screen doesn't care which way it's heading. Thanks. Best, DD
I apologize if this sounds stupid, but how does my Garmin Stryker fishfinder know where the bow of the boat is? Is it oriented off the transducer? Does it judge it by movement? I can turn the screen any direction I want to, right? I'm just trying to be as smart as the boat. Best, DD

A good source for quality bullet connectors is Eastern Beaver. He sells motorcycle wiring products, including good weatherproof connectors. His bullets are very good quality and match Japanese...
Thanks for the kind words. It's a nice old boat. It sat outside for a while but it didn't really hurt it much. I was able to polish it up some and put new wood in the transom. I painted the blue part to match the original and my friend gave me a newer Shorelandr trailer. I've added some...
I'm considering the Suzuki 9.9, which is the same motor as the 20hp with a different ECM. I'm attracted to the Suzuki because I've owned and worked on their motorcycles for many years and am impressed by their technology. I find the Tohatsu to be a good looking product too, and it is made in...
Hello, new member here. I've been spending some of my retired time putting my Grandpa's old boat back in shape. I was five years old when it was new, a 1957 14' aluminum Starcraft with a 5.5 Evinrude Fisherman. It never was used much, but it looked pretty ragged and I thought it deserved...
I have a '56 Starcraft aluminum, which they introduced as a Starlite, then the 14' fishing model is Starfire 14. This was the very beginning of Starcraft aluminum boats according to period advertising. Mine bears no resemblance to the one pictured. Is it aluminum? Best, DD
