    Stumped: Rebuilt 5HP carb, now wont start

    :confused:1996 Merc 5HP 2 stroke - used first couple times this season worked fine; new gas/oil mixture and oil lower unit; stalled last time out, changed plug and gas (again) just to be sure... idled but would not throttle up. Took in for service and was told diaphram in fuel pump was unseated...

    5HP Merc STILL wont start

    1998 Merc 5HP 2-stroke kicker for sailboat. New gas (50:1 oil mix); new plug, and... just rebuilt carb, all new fuel pump gaskets. Kill switch off. Motor has spark, and after first couple pulls (choke on) sounds like it wants to start, then nothing (choke off after 2 pulls). Disconnected fuel...

    5HP Merc quits after idle using internal tank

    :confused:5HP Merc, 2 Stroke, rebuilt in 2006. Using external (tank) runs fine, but when using internal it dies within a minute at anything above idle speed. Same gas (new) in both external and internal. Drained internal tank, no obstructions noted... doesnt make sense that it would be filter as...
