    Stupid is as stupid does! Problem was fouled spark plugs! So simple. I think an injector is or was leaking.

    Thank you. I'll check it out. The engine starts cold but runs for only about 60 seconds. I don't think the ECU overheats in 60 seconds.

    Yes, I replaced the fuel filters. It ran good last year. I started to prep it for this year but it will not restart after only minutes of idle. I replaced the VST but the issue is exactly the same. The fuel pressure regulator is inside the VST. I have not yet checked the pressure on the fuel...

    The OP engine is a four stroke EFI.

    I have a 2003 Johnson/Suzuki 115 outboard. It will start first thing in the morning. It will run for a few minutes, then it gets choppy. I shut it off. It will not restart. If I let it sit a couple of hours, it will start- run a minute- then won't restart. I replaced the VST with a used one...
