I have a 1979 7.5 merc. (s/n 5343319). I wanted to be sure I got the right imeller for it. I see there are 2 different sizes of shafts for this hp motor. Any ideas from the S/N what size mine is? I don't own a micrometer.

On my 79 7.5 hp mercury there is a "troll" lever in the transom clamp area. Any clues as to what this does. Kinda looks like it locks the motor from flipping up.
I have a 1979 Mercury 7.5 HP. I notice it leaks some gas out of the black plastic grate on the front of the carb. Is a little leakage normal or does this mean a float or other problem?

I need some weights to make a comparison to a 4 stroke we just mounted on our boat. The boat is rated at 90hp and we put a 70hp 4stroke on it. I am concerned about the weight of the 4 stroke. Therefore if I know what a 90hp 2 stroke would weigh I would have an idea if we will stay afloat. Thanks
We recently replaced a johnson 60hp 2 stroke with a 70hp 4 Stroke. This motor weighs in at approx 350Lbs. We haven't put it in the water yet. This is on 1991 175 SeaNymph that says it is rated for up to 90Hp (2 stroke I assume). Would there be any problems with the weight of this motor on this boat?
