1973 merc 402 40hp. last year ran perfectly. this year wont idle at all and will only come up to about 50% rpm under load. rpm is good with no load but still wont idle. ran it out of gas to store for winter so dont think varnish is problem. sea foam in gas and deep creep in intake didnt fix...

have a 1975 merc 402 40hp with mercontrol. on the mercontrol shifter, reverse and forward are backwards.(shifter back= forward) have had it apart but cant figure out how to fix it. boat works fine like it is but i'm one of those guys who wants everything to be the way it should be. HELP!!!!!!
