It is a 1985 50 HP Mercury that will not start : It ran well all summer but recently started flooding when I started it ( fuel was pouring out of top carb)- I changed the carb. inlet needles and this stopped fuel pouring out of carb.
Since then it has refused to start . Put new spark plugs in...

I have a 1985 50 hp Mercury and it is always flooding. There are good sparks - The spark plugs are the " flat type " not the conventionnal old type.
Could anybody help me with this ? Thank you !!

I have a 50hp Mercury ( 1980 ? new sparks - ) with a fast idle and, when reving up will not go in high revs. It goes up and down rapidely in middle rvs. It seems to try to accelarate and then goes down all this quickly.
Also, I cannot get it in reverse - The gears grind loudly.
