    Okay solved it due to taking a picture of the wiring before I replaced the VR. I missed wiring in a couple of wires (orange and orange-black). I think its only firing on 2 cylinders. Knucklehead mistake but at least I know now what the problem is. Just one more question........what should...

    So the voltage regulator was replaced on the engine and all the wires went back as they should. Before replacing the VR the motor ran fine but the voltage ran high at high rpms. Gas bulb is pumped full. Battery is fully charged. Engine only fires a couple of times at each start and won't...

    120 hp Evinrude 4 cyl looper outboard - flywheel nut

    The nut on the flywheel of this engine is supposed to be 1-5/16 based on eyeball measurment and literature. I have tried two different 6 point impact sockets and a 35mm 12 point socket and nothing has fit over the nut. Is there is special tool that is required and if so what is the part number.

    I need a recommendation for steering in an old LUND boat

    The Detmar steerng cable in my 88 Lund Tyee has given up the ghost. Has anyone else replaced these as Detroit Manufacturing is no longer making them? Looking for suggestions on the best way to conquer this problem.

    Aluminum Hull Grounding Question

    Should the aluminum hull be grounded to the negative battery terminal or is this a dumb question because the outboard engine automatically grounds it through the mounting bolts of the engine. Am I overthinking it to worry about electrolysis affecting boat components?

    There is writing but its old and faded and unreadable. If it was a capacitor could it be for ignition noise on the radio? That's about the only think I can think of but I never saw one exactly like this before
