    e-tec flushing port

    The manual for my e-tec says you can direct connect a hose to the flush port and clean the engine without running. When I attach a hose and turn the water on, it doesn't go anywhere. No water coming out of engine and water shooting out from where it is screwed in. Is it possible this is plugged?

    mini skeg?

    Above the prop is what looks like a small version of a skeg. The one on my outboard spins freely (which I'm sure it's not supposed to do). What is this thing, what does it do, and does it need to be set in any particular direction?

    Purchased a digital multimeter trying still to get something to work the way it should on this thing of mine... How do you know the ground is sufficient to get an accurate reading? I put the red probe on what I want to test, but there's not always handy metal nearby to put the black one on...

    hydraulic steering

    I've got a teleflex hydraulic steering system on two motors. There is a small screw on cap on top of the steering column. Should I see fluid when I take this off? I can see some fluid on the gears, but it's not like the whole thing is full to the top.

    battery size?

    I have twin 1998 Mercury 200 efi engines. Twin batteries already, but it might be a good idea to have a spare starter battery stashed. What would you suggest as the right "size" to get, and do I look only at cca? Don't want to get one too small to crank if necessary.

    My recently acquired boat has two engines and two batteries. I'm used to having two batteries...but this one has two battery switches. Several big red wires going into each one.
