I have the shift cable removed from inside but i can't get it pulled through the intermediate housing? I have a BAD bearing that was making my 3.8l die out once the engine/bearing warmed up. I had metal shavings in the lower unit, once i pulled the drain plug....im unsure if i should tackle this...
Had bad bearing noise from my 84 omc..pulled the engine and everything looks fine?:D but whatever it is, is making the engine stall at idle, bad bearing in outdrive??? should i be able to spin the input shaft by hand? doesn't seem loose?
1983 3.8l omc with stringer...sounds like i have a bad bearing :facepalm: what do you guys suggest I do..i know the 4.3 with a cobra outdrive is a good up grade but is probably pretty costly...3.8l's are pretty common engines so im sure i can find another for decently cheap in a junk yard..or do...
Have a 1983 starcraft with a 3.8l omc (gm) and it had a ford coil on it that was supposed to be used with an external resistor..does the 3.8l use an external resistor? i couldn't find one but its tight back there! thank you.
