I purchased a 1996 Mercury 75hp outboard in 2002 and for various reasons it only got used briefly the first season. It's been stored in a climate controlled garage with relatively low humidity @ approx. 53 deg.F. It ran good when I removed it from the boat. I'm at a dilemma as to whether I...
Maybe I'm nuts, but am I the only one that still likes the old portable marine metal 6 gal. fuel tanks? I've scavenged 3 of them. One I've stripped and refinished and would like to know what to do about factory decals. They're all old Evinrude tanks. Eventually I'd like to refinish the other 2...
I'm in the process of doing a water pump rebuild. I've dropped the lower unit enough to remove the shift rod screw. That's as far as I can remove the LU. I don't really want to pry it off. I know what usually happens when something gets forced. Is there a trick to getting the LU off?
I've got a Humminbird Wideview fishfinder that I've had for maybe 10 yrs. I don't know if it works as it came with a boat I bought back then and never used. I have all of the components but none of the small screws and washers need to mount everything. I can deal with that. Couple of questions...
I've got a 17' Alumacraft bassboat with a 1999 Mecury 75hp 2 stroke outboard I may sell. The motor has been stored in a heated garage for the last few years. The boat itself is on a trailer in fair condition, no seats, but in parts. Some work was done on the trailer such as new axle, tires on...
I did a search for this and really didn't get a clear answer. I'm installing a new propshaft oil seal on my Sportwin 9.5. My question is, what direction should the seal face? Does anyone have a pic?
This question has been answered in various forms, but I wanted an answer specific to my Sportwin 9.5. First let me say that it runs well being as old as it is. I'm losing gear lube through my propeller shaft oil seal. Can this seal be replaced after removal of the propeller only?
