I am looking at used late model boat/motor combos. Most have Mercs, but the ads do not say if they are DFI, which I strongly believe for offshore mileage that I would want. What year did DFI come out? Are all Optimax's DFI? Any years or models to avoid?
I have two 1995 200 HP mercs, one is counter rotation. If I repower, do I have to go with counter rotation? I have seen Donzis advertised with twin Merc 250 Pro XS, and they are not available with counter rotate. If you have hydraulic steering, why do you need counter rotation?
Would anyone know the weight of a 1995 Merc 200 HP-XRI, 2.5 litre, fuel injected outboard?
I am seriously considering repowering, and comparing present weight to possible future outboard weight would be very helpfull. Hopefully fuel consumption would be much better with new motor. Thanx.
