I have half repaired a 7050 actuator (power lift).... it pushes the rod out, but does not pull it back in.
I had to dismantel the whole thing because it had sat in the weather for over 5 years. I got the motor working, and then noticed the the push rod was stuck. When I drained the oil and...
I found this motor control in the back of a barn. Does anyone know anything about this item? It says SyncroDrive Ace Boat Company, Syracuse NY. Seems to be made of aluminum. Both cable are 8 ft long. The way it is setup, looks to mount on the left side of a boat. Was if specific to a...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Thanks all for your good advice on the carburator. I figured for $55 it was best just to order one and see what I got. To my surprise, the carb came in and it was essentially complete!. The 3 attaced pics are of the carburator exactly as I...
I have a 1976 75 hp Johnson Stinger. Model 75elr76D. The motor runs, but does not idle. I took the carbs out and noticed that the lowest carb had the little brass tube inside the larger brass tube (venturi tube) was corroded and no longer attached. I can not find a reference to this tube in...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Here are the latest pics showing the mostly completed interior. I am working on the electric now and on the motor.
Which brings me to a big question. The motor was running rough... not surprizing for a motor that has been sitting for 2 decades...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Last part of the back seat build
This is what it looks like with only the middle seat flipped up.
The seat bottoms have carpet on them. This is so if i want to stand on them to go fishing, it will not be a big deal. I am going to make cusions...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Part 3 of the back seat post.
The backs were trimmed with aluminum and vinyl.
I used the same approach for the seat bottoms.
The sides of the bottom are hinged and flip sideways. The middle portion is hinged and flip backwards. This is...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
The back seat continues - part 2.
The back of the seats were fitted into the boat.
One of the goals of the design was to be able to get to the underside of the splashwell with no effort. So, the backs were mounted onto aluminum channels that...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
I have finished designing and building the back seats. They are built of plywood and aluminum.
The middle section is built like a small cabinet. It uses 5/8 inch ply for the sides. The top is notched so it can fit under the splashwell.
The...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
I worked on the plate the fits behind the transom. I was lucky to have the original, so the cutting and fitting was easy. Drilling the holes was a piece of cake. I was also lucky that a neighbor of mine had some aluminum faced 3/8 plywood. He...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
I got to work on the motor in the last few weeks...I would have gotten further, but I HAD to go on vacation.
The motor is a 1976 Johnson Stinger 75 hp. 3 cylinders, 3 carbs. Packed full of mouse nests!
I tested the starter.... dead as a door...
Re: Starcraft SS's: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Well I quess its a compliment to be called 'King of the Bottom Feeders'.... my wife just calls me cheap!
Ok...next step is done. the steering is in. all cleaned up, greased, and installed. This steering was from the other boat. Easy project...
Re: Starcraft Holiday: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Re: Starcraft Holiday: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
The dashboards are done! The recipe:
1. glue mohogany board to 3/8 inch plywood (45 min)
2. Cut to shape. I was very lucky to have found the original aluminum trim for the pattern. (20 min)...
Re: Starcraft Holiday: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Re: Starcraft Holiday: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
The boat is OUT OF THE BARN and has seen daylight for the first time!. Getting off of the temporary rack and onto the trailer wasn't too bad.
Next came making the seat backs in the bow area...
Re: Starcraft Holiday: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
Re: Starcraft Holiday: 1976 + 1982 = 1 'new' boat
The adventure continues.
The seat backs in the bow area were the next project. I used 3/8 ply, with 1 inch foam and then covered with the light tan vinyl. To attach it to the boat i epoxied...
