Tilt Not Working on MerCruiser Outdrive

Also, AChris, if you wouldn't mind: If I buy one of these switches that has the three pin harness as an interneving connection, it would still begoing through the Solenoids, right? So i can't use that as a troubleshooting/emergency bypass feed, I would guess? THanks again@

Tilt Not Working on MerCruiser Outdrive

Just trolling through an old thread here: Does anyone know how to check the 11) fuse to see if its good..? (i.d., ohms resistance it should have, since its not visually accessible)? Im of course, also on step # 2, post cable cleaning, with a Tilt not going up or down, but sometimes clicking...

    Intermittent fuel issue and Ventilation

Hey, this is great, alldodge! Thanks again. Actually, mine has the cowl and is located on the opposite side of the outdrive but on the high side. this is very helpful, but I'll also check to see if the Maxum manual has any tips about where the tank side would be so I can try some compressed...

    Intermittent fuel issue and Ventilation

OH, wow, thanks, alldodge..! Didn't know you could do that... I'll have to look up some diagrams to see where that connection even is.. I've never done anything with the tank. Replaced my blower is the furthest down in there I've been.. Thanks for your quick reply.

    Intermittent fuel issue and Ventilation

Hi all, my 89' Maxum with a 3.0 Mercruiser, that I use not nearly enough (the source of most problems, likely) has run fine for me in my third year with it (previous owner was the town mechanic!), but occasionally, with no consistency, except possibly after a long run time before incidence, just...

Force 50 (1988) comes out of water in reverse

Yeah, I'm with Poorman, with my 85 the parts are fine, but we do mostly fishing and the full pull-out of the bracket every launch got to be a drag when sometimes we are only under power for a short while, so we as a norm leave the bracket fully in place, and just pull it out from trailiering...

Mystery Solved: Overheats have consequences... 1987 Force 85 H.P.

Thanks, Jerry, yeah I think I am going to have to put it in after all for peace of mind, even though it seems OK for the moment... I'd love to have a tutorial done by you guys sometime to show us how you find part #'s for smaller items- the spring was on the one leg chart I had, but no number...

1996 FORCE 75hp cowl LOWER SEAL replacement??

SurfsalterPath, if the exhaust channel is indeed your problem, and you'll be working on reconstructing that, you might want to follow my string about the melted insert in my boot, that the guys have helped me solve and some parts suggestions there... I had a water inlet problem, not an exhaust...

Mystery Solved: Overheats have consequences... 1987 Force 85 H.P.

Update, for SurfsalterPath, and anyone else following. I replaced the plastic 'insert' that Jerry helped me find, but the spring is elusive. No sign of the original inside there. So, I created a nice gasket type seal with Permatex high temp, and let it dry fully. At startup, its was still...

Mystery Solved: Overheats have consequences... 1987 Force 85 H.P.

Jerry, LOL, well, I sure owe ya a tall one next time I'm in FLA. I arrived and its in perfects shape, too. No spring, though so Ill make use of some RTV Blue gasket maker to seal it up and make sure its stays in place. Thanks again!!

Mystery Solved: Overheats have consequences... 1987 Force 85 H.P.

Thanks, Admiral, that's helpful about the spring, which is long gone, of course... It must have held as long as it wasnt moved, but I think all in all its good to have unblocked the obstruction. In any case, I think I have no hope to find a replacement for that ring, so I think I'll have to...

Mystery Solved: Overheats have consequences... 1987 Force 85 H.P.

For anyones that's interested, I solved the mystery pre-water this year on the blockage issue in my water exhaust ports I posted about last year; I would have preferred to update that post, but I can't see to find it. Last spring, I could see and feel some blockage in my ports, but had a pretty...
