I purchased a boat last year that had an 89 Suzuki DT85. It never would get up on plane. I had the carbs built since it didn't wanna idle. I hadn't been able to take it out and finally did. It has the same problem only idles now. I noticed the wires for the water cooling sensor were...
Is the 3300 series what I need for my shift cable? The guy at teleflex said it's what most Suzukis use...but we all know how that goes.

Thanx
Joe
I had the carbs built last year and lower unit dope changed also. My truck went south and this is the first i've had the boat out. It's a 1989 model DT85. We launched and the motor worked fine in reverse. I moved the throttle to neutral...then forward and when I pressed the throttle...
I have a suzuki 85hp with the serial 8051 921703. The motor is gray and black with gold lettering. What is the year? Also I dont' see the plug gap listed on the motor...what is the proper gap? The gas has been sitting for about 8 months. It seems to idle rough and will not go above 1600...
I thought i'd ask before I dive in. It uses 3 wires...1 is of course positive and the other negative. What is the third wire for? This is a Minn-Kota 41lb thrust (think it's a 559). It is 12/24 but all the trolling motor recepticles have 3 wires.

Joe

I believe that my prop is starting to strip...unless they have a clutch. In larger swells on the river hit a wave and the rpm's rise...and at wot I can hear it slightly fluctuate. Did a parts search on this site but no props were found. Is this something I could PROPERLY install? I'm used to...
Right beside the oil level bolt there is a bolt missing where it says wash. Is this something I should definately plug before running the motor? I didn't think it would be a big deal since it runs water through it anyway but wanted to ask first.

Thanx
Joe
After talking to my local Yamaha guy he suggested to not "take a chance" and perform premix. #1. Does anything need to be disconnected if i'm going to premix? #2. Do I mix 50:1? #3. I assume that I use standard 2 cycle outboard oil (I ask this one as a precaution....I don't like to spell...
I just purchased a 1985 (k code anyway)Yamaha 40HP electric start 3 cyl and boat. My friend (whom I purchased this from) said it had been giving him carb problems. I started to prime it when I got the boat and saw fuel leaking from the motor. I popped the cover and it was coming from the...
