I have a 65 sportwin 9.9 that starts and runs really good at all speeds for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. good gas, spark and start and idle all good but just won't run for long? what's happeningody ?

I have a 64 and a 65 9.5 sportwin. the 65 carb leak gas out the side of the carburator casing tube which does not seem to have the end sealed like the 64. without a parts diagram i can't quite describe but the flow/leak is not actually in the carb but the cast iron tube just to the side of where...
i have a 1989 Mariner 2.5 hp that looks brand new the person i got it from says there is nothing wrong with it and he used it about 6 times and has stored it for years.
