Are these things really that sensitive to
moisture? Mine wouldn't start easy nor operate correctly at low rpms after finally getting started.
Drained gas tank and had carb cleaned rebuilt. Fresh gas in tank. Ran great for about a month and started pretty easily. The boat is located in south...
2004 Mercruiser 3.0 carb. Hard starting. Will only start cold with advanced throttle. Then will not maintain idle until ran in neutral with rpms above 2500 for about 6-7 mins. Then when attempting to propel forward, wants to die when going into gear but if you aggressively advance the throttle...
2004 mercruiser 3.0 carb engine. Haven't had it out in a while. But on trailer with muffs maintains a good smooth idle. If you advance the neutral throttle to 2500+ Rpms for a few seconds then pull back down to idle throttle the engine dies and does not reclaim idle.
ok, so just finished attempting to replace fuel filter on this 2004 that has NEVER been changed - the fuel filter was in bad shape and the black painted bowl had a large sheet of paint inside the bowl floating around with very fine black paint debris - believe it or not the boat has been running...
So absolutely impossible changing fuel filter in this boat. Thats why it hasn't been done in 12 years. Would it cause issues to relocate the entire fuel pump to the front of the engine so that maintenance will be easier down the road? Also want to install a water/fuel separater. As I see it...
So acquired a 2004 mercruiser 3.0 with approx 500 hours on engine. I changed the plugs and oil and the thing runs like a top. I went to change the fuel filter but am uncertain how to proceed to be honest. I know it has never had it done as the original black factory paint was till bonded to the...
Trimmed engine all the way up and noticed the exhaust hose (I think) that connects to the exhaust outlet from boat and routes it up through out drive housing has broken off and torn apart. Attached is the pic. Should this be repaired before taking boat out? Really been looking fed to getting it...
This boat (32' party cruiser pontoon) was always in the water so the oil drain hose accessible through transom plug hole is sitting on top of engine. Apparently they only used the pump to do oil chgs. I'd prefer using the hose out the plug hole. How the heck could I manage getting the hose...
So rookie mistake today trying to separate lower unit from stern dive. Too much pressure on metal just above propeller cause the entire piece to break off. About. 5" piece. The front right entire corner if looking at if from the front. So do I need a new lower unit now or can I simply get by...
