Thanks for the response fellas. That brings me to the Frankenstein issues. I bought the boat recently from a guy that knows nothing about its history. It's serial number indicates it's an 87 125 hp. The casting of the block does not have removable covers for the fuel recirculation system...
87-95 force 120/125. It's a bit of a Frankenstein. I had my block bored .040 over and matched pistons. I'm usually boating around 650' above sea level and I don't want this turd to lean out. What size jets do you fellas recommend and is there a difference for top and bottom carb? It...
Annoyed at finding this cylinder with low compression, I ripped the motor back apart to find there was a ridge left in the bore that was noticeable on 30 percent of the bore centered in the compression area. I suspect the machine shop broke his tooling mid way through the bore and it shifted...
My tilt trim was doing exactly the same thing as yours. You can coax it up but bleeds off internally. I bought a new pump assembly complete for 150 bones and it now works perfectly. When I removed mine there was alot of metal shaving paste around the top of pump. I suggest you use some...
Grrrrrrrrr... So I had this block bored .040 over and replaced pistons. One cylinder is has 125 psi and the others are 145-150. The bore looks great and measures out fine. I have NOT fired the motor yet as I'm afraid I've flipped a ring or something. I could snatch the motor back off as...
I suspect you are correct as well. Having it bored out next week. Do you guys know what the clearance should be on 3.415 wsm pistons between the wall or ring gap?
Ok fellas, thanks for the input. I did find one of the vaccuum lines off on the worst piston. the line was behind the cdi modules. That may have contributed some. Not sure.
Fresh box of rice and a zip lock baggy is great. it's Saved several "crApples" my daughter's have owned. Be patient. Place the bag and phone in a warm environment.
After cracking open this lemon, I expected to find a rope seal with ultra black permatex on it. Instead I find this smooth mating surface with a very thin red coating similar to redish clear nail polish. Anyone know what sealant is used for this application?
