Hi all. Been awhile for me on here. I have what I think is a 1980 18ft. Galaxie with a 120 mercruiser and a 1985 out drive. My question is, do i find a wiring diagram through mercruiser or Galaxie?
Being that this engine is a 2.5L GM, can i use a starter off of a car or truck? I'm not buying a new one cause the boat is gutted. If i get it running, I might fix it up or sell the sterndrive. there is a junk yard close and I don,t have a starter on it.
what is the firing order? Is there a wiring diagram on this forum? Can i take the trim pump apart and clean it? It has sat for a few years, should i replace the diaphragms in the fuel pump? any other stuff i should know about these would be very helpful. Thank you.
Doing a favor putting this outboard on for a guy but he gave me the harness with the ignition switch separate, I got it to crank but no fire. cranks like heck! The model# is55973A. Serial# is J06115. oh and the choke solenoid won't work either.
What is the best way to fill in holes in the transom. I'm going from one outboard to another and the mounting holes don't line up. How do i deal with this? Silicone? Fiberglass?
I need your help! this guy wants me to put a 1969 Evinrude 55 on a Classic 17 1/2 ft v-haul that used to have a 1974 Mercury 150. I can do this but the steering is totally different. the 55 had a pulley system and the Merc 150 had this rod thing( rack and pinion I guess). Is there a conversion kit?
I have a johnson 115hp that sounds like i forgot to push in the clutch when i put it in to forward or reverse. Whats the deal? Does it need adjusted? I can fix the engine but don't know anything about the bottom.
I found a !955 Johnson 5 1/2 hp outboard. It needs a new coil. I looked up the coil on this web site and it was $28.00. The guy wants $175 or best offer. Is it worth messing with?
Looking for a reed plate for this old motor. had it running smooth but then wouldn't stay running. Pulled it apart and found one of the reeds was missing. Now I know that parts for these are not around anymore but i'm hopeful.
