My 16ss with a tiller 2015 60 merc command thrust hits 32mph solo. 30 with me and my dad (were not skinny people lol). I had a older 40 merc 2stroke that pushed it pretty good. But blew that one up hitting a submerged stump on its first duck hunting trip.
Officially retired! And already started the new job in Fl. Settled in Palm City. Rackin and stackin! My middle kiddo is my fishhin buddy for now. Older one likes it but shes older and sleepin in more these days.
I pilot is an awesome addition! Been in FL a few weeks hunting and fishing. Fishing being more productive. Also, been smoke free the last 6 months. So that's a plus. If you followed this project it's been on the list of things to do! She is gettin worked on this trip. My fam moves back to...
Sipping a stout in Vancouver, BC this evening. Great food experience for this first time north of the border! Headed back south tomorrow, hopefully it's not another 2hr line at the crossing.
Always wondered about the members on this side and been keeping my eye out for tin.
I rolled mine over once stripped fairly easy by myself. It won't hurt it.
As for leak test, once it's stripped I think best way is to add water inside the hull and let gravity do the work over a dry concrete/asphalt driveway. No leaks means no wet spots.
Put it in the water to test could mean...
I thought about that, but only reason I figured it would be worth it was if I only hunted salt water. Or had no budget. Wood is fine as long as you keep it covered when not in use.
One of my favorite things to do is use the search feature and search this forum only. Rivets were one of the fun parts for me. Solids and blinds
I can't remember the sizes I used, too many fractions goin through my head to pick one just thinking about it.
With angles in my transom I could snip it in instead of bending the channel. In hindsight I liked it because I glued/5200'd the heck out of it and used a few tack nails on the sides to hold it down as it dried. I wasnt to worried about exact angle cuts. It could have been nicer.
The first one I took out when I got it was so rotten I got it out mostly in pieces. I think one screw/bolt held me up a bit but it eventually slid out.
The second one wasn't "as bad" so it slid straight out.
Advice would be take it out in pieces if need be, or find a solid piece to put a big...
Here is a 16ft SS I redid for ducks and fishing. 2 different layouts over time. My Dad did the most recent layout.
I only got 1 actual hunt in before blowing the used motor I picked up, but got my first band ever in that only hunt so I couldn't even be mad...
Got a minn kota riptide terrova for the big 40 bday this year. Just arrived at the dad's house! Won't be installed for a couple weeks, but I can't wait to see pics and hear how it works for those lake okeechobee crappies!
