Hi all, I have a 1977 850 merc with very weak and sometimes no spark. I found a merc repair man who had a new switch box lying around that he let me try but it didn't help. I was thinking it might be the stator (not that I would really know) but I don't have a clue how to test it. I have a VOM...
The spark plug doesn't spark, but if I stick a screwdriver in the plug wire and hold it close to ground I get a little spark. Same on all four cylinders. Any ideas?
