The alternator on my '73 Johnson 115 OB is non-regulated. Would there be any harm in using a switch and relay to allow manual control of charging by opening opening the rectifier output. Is there a way to remove power from the field instead?<br /><br />Thanks

I am looking at some spare porps for my '73 Johnson 115. The motor currently has a 13.75 X 15 prop. Is it OK to use a smaller dia. prop like a 13.25 or 13.5 instead?
I have looked at every place I can think of and can find no diameter or pitch markings on my prop. The only number is "W543". Any idea what that means? How can I properly (no pun intended) measure my prop?<br /><br />Thanks
