When i first start my motor i get a burst of blue smoke - after idling for a 30 seconds or so it turns clear as if very little oil is being burned - I have heard that at low idle the mercury mariners use very little oil but i would expect some oil use.
I am concerned that my oil injection...

I am getting ready to assemble my boat interior - I always have a problem with stainless steel screws stripping out easily? Is it just me? I buy them from the local hardware, but wondered if I should be looking at a harder steel if such a thing exist.
Thanks for your help

If I am making an aluminum patch - what thickness of aluminum should i use as compared to the area I am patching, and second question - is there any good links to purchase closed end pop rivets online in smaller quantities like 100 or so.
I am getting a stress crack in the front lower (under water line) of my boat welded - I am thinking of following up with JB Weld or marine tex on both sides of the weld - anything else to consider - i would like this to not crack again and thought jb weld might add some strength.
I need a temporary patch on my boat until the welder can fix properly - the hole is letting a steady drip of water into the boat and was due to damage vs stress crack - I am talking about an area that is the about the size of a screwdriver as far as the hole - I have some jb weld in the garage -...
I have purchased a pretty decent boat except lots of nasty carpet due to it being used for fishing. I want to pull the carpet and replace with vinyl flooring - only question is that the floor is aluminum -
Does the boat vinyl flooring work well over aluminum? Do I use the same type of glue?

Does anyone know if these are built on the same platform - are the hoods the same. Is it possible to put a 9.9 hood on a a 15hp?
We have a few restricted lakes I would like to fish - if my main motor is a 20 inch, should the kicker also be the same - reason I ask is that the boat transom is shorter (due to being a v) on the side than the middle. My guess is that I go with a 20 inch but maybe there are other ideas.
How...
I figure the guys in the restoration would have good insight on this.
I am looking at a 97 fisher-hawk 18 foot aluminum boat - the hull looks clean from the outside - but if i wanted to check for stress and cracks - where should I be looking - I assume most cracks will be visible to the eye -...
Can anyone comment on the quality of the fisher hawk line from 1997 - the boat looks good - but this is not a name i am familiar with.
I have seen a few post about the post tracker fishers have weld problems.
I heard they were bought out by tracker around 97 or so - I think the one I am...
I plan on testing compression and then listening to the motor run. I will make sure the lower unit sends water through the pee hole.
The boat looks well cared for and the owner is in his 60's and kept in garaged during the winter. He is upgrading to a newer boat.
Every boat I have owned...
