I have a 1997 115SPL Johnson and I am in the middle of replacing the trim/tilt motor. The problem is I have removed the six bolts (three on each side) and upper tilt pin, and the unit will not come out. Does anyone know how to remove these units?
I have a 1997 115 Johnson with a trim/tilt malfunction. When i press the button I hear a click in the relays but nothing happens sometimes. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I have a 1998 115 90 degree CV4 Johnson and I just replaced the powerhead with a rebuilt one. Someone told me to do a lync and sync on it but I don't know what it is. Can someone please shed some light on this for me?
I just replaced the powerhead on my 115 Johnson 90 degree CV4 outboard and I ran it in the water last week and everything checked out. This morning I was leaving for work and noticed some black oil that looked like it was running out of the propeller housing. I reached down and got some on my...
I was looking at my repair manual and saw that it said that the maximum spark advance should be adjusted after a new powerhead is installed. I just put a remanufactured 1998 115 CV4 powerhead and I have no prior experience using a timing light and wanted to know if there was another way to...
I recently installed a remaned powerhead and followed the tune-up instructions from the manual. The idle rpm is between 500 and 1000 butidles rough. My question is do I need to adjust the timing and spark or set the idle the only problem is I cant find any adjusting screws. The engine is V4...
I was in the final stages of mounting a rebuilt 90 degree CV4 115hp Johnson Powerhead and as I was hooking up all the recirculation hoses to their appropriate fittings. I noticed the fitting on the top starboard side was cracked and bent I investigated further and it broke off. I looked in my...
I was beginning the reistall portion of the powerhead and came across the torque limits for the exhaust housing - to - powerhead bolts. My question is do I need a torque wrench or can I just snug them up real good. I am doing the reistall on a 1998 Johnson 115 Johnson.
I have rebuilt the lower unit on my 115 1998 Johnson and noticed after we got it back together that there was a good bit of play after I engaged the foreward gear. Is there a limit on how much play is tolerable.
I have a 1998 115 johnson and I am trying to get to the lower seal in the lower unit. I got the propeller off but don't know how to get the thrust bushing off. I don't want to break anything or mess it up. Does anybody know how to get it off.
I have a 1998 115 Johnson that I plan to pull the lower unit off and rebuild the water pump and replace the seal or seals. My question is is there just one seal that is behind the propeller or are there more.
Does anyone know if I can install a marine cd player in a way that is not exactly flat. I am istalling it in a 1998 17' Capehorn on the center console where it is slightly angled forward. Do I need to make a shim that levels it out?
I recently aquired a '98 115hp Johnson and was told that the crankshaft is broken. The mechanic's solution is to replace the powerhead with a remanufactured powerhead. I am an avid shade tree mechanic and wanted to know would it be wise to let hm do it or for me to do it myself.
