My "trusty" 3.7 (165 2bl) has a "dead-spot" just above idle. It will stall/hesitate whenever this RPM is reached, whether increasing or decreasing RPMs, full engine temp or not. I took the carb apart, and found some off-white colored "gunk" in the bottom of the carb. So......I am gonna rebuild...
I found the coolant level on my 3.7 going down each time I ran her, and could smell "burning" coolant, and see some steam from the exhaust. I found coolant in the cylinders/exhaust ports due to a leaking riser gasket. This gasket was replaced by me when I first got the boat a couple months ago...
When replacing the outdrive fluid, I had a hard time pumping in the new fluid. It took excessive pressure to get it to fill. What could cause this? (Yes, the top plug was removed...lol)

The Merc service manual says to final torque the cylinder head to 130 lb/ft. The retorque after engine is brought to operating temperature (not exact words in the manual).
My question is.... Do I let the engine cool down before re-torquing, or is it done with engine at operating temperature...
Can someone give me the proper install tecnique for the two seals that fit into the grooves on the rear main bearing cap? I have two seals, and two steel pins that were togther in the gasket kit. Looks like the pins fit in the grooves on the seals. Are these for install purposes...
