    40 hp carb problem

    I have a 1969 Johnson 40 hp. I am having trouble with the solenoid on the carb. It keeps burning up. 2 @ $116.50 ea. this is killing me. Anyone have any ideas? what is the purpose and can it be removed.....lol ? I have another carb from another Johnson engine that does not have the solenoid on it.

    Serial Number ????

    I recently purchased a 40 hp Johnson electric sea horse, this is according to the cowl. I have looked all over this engine and I can not find a serial or model number anywhere. I have found a few part numbers but that is about it. Any suggestions would HELP...lol this is driving me nuts. Thanks G
