    Power Steering Cylinder Replacement

Wanted to update this for anyone who might venture down this path and do the removal/install themself. I did it myself because I got quotes from $4500-$7000 for to replace the steering arm. Seeing as how the boat is 21 years old, it didn't make financial sense to spend that. Took me about 2.5...

    Power Steering Cylinder Replacement

So I was able to get it out, of course parts of my body now hurt that I didn't know existed. The cotter pins are the biggest PITA. I decided to send the unit off to be professionally rebuilt, I don't have time since school has started and I want it done right before I contort my body again. I...

    Volvo Steering Fluid vs ATF

Got my steering arm/actuator removed and I'm probably going to send it off to be rebuilt, I'm about to get sent away for work again and don't have the time. The place I'm sending it to says to use "AW32 or AW46" for the power steering pump and system. Two questions: Do I need to fully drain...

    Power Steering Cylinder Replacement

Welp, found out why my power steering pump burned up...leak on the power steering cylinder. Had the boat out on the water and noticed I couldn't keep the pump fluid at a constant level. Then saw the dreaded drip. I'm going to replace the power steering cylinder and not try and have it rebuilt...

    2004 5.7 GXI Overheat - Pump? Impeller?

I made a rookie mistake when I put on a new impeller and forgot to pull the old o-ring off and installed a new one - thus had two o-rings and the impeller wouldn't work properly. Hope you figure this out, good luck.

    Tensioner Replacement

While replacing my power steering pump yesterday the tensioner broke where you insert a breakerbar. Gonna order a new one. I can't find anything in the shop manual about replacing the tensioner. Is it as simple as just one bolt?

    Power Steering Pump Replacement

Thanks Scott. Appears the return hose is no longer sold (that I can find). Hoping it's just some sort of normal hose and I can pick something similar up at the local parts store. hose Part no. 3862598 https://www.volvopenta.com/shop/523033/part-sections/54169856

    Power Steering Pump Replacement

Thanks to all, especially for the links. My biggest concern (other than figuring out where/what the is leaking) is getting the pully back in the correct spot. Going to do a bunch of measuring and lots of photos.

    Power Steering Pump Replacement

Thought about that but my boat is 3 hours from me. So kind of a pain if I want to try that. I have found some for $100 and they appear to fit. I mean, it's just a power steering pump for a chevy v6. I feel like volvo is asking a lot to just put there name on it.

    Power Steering Pump Replacement

Took the boat out and noticed a burning smell. Opened the hatch and the power steering pump was smoking. Checked it and she was dry. (I can post more on what happened - it was my fault but doesn't matter now). I know the pump is now toast. Has anyone replaced one of these on their own? I can't...

    Serpentine Belt

Thanks Scott. Going to get hoses ordered and knock it out this summer. I'm guessing it can't be that hard and/or long of a job. Looks pretty straight-forward.

    Serpentine Belt

2004 4.3 GXi-E. Engine has 227 hours on it. I have had the boat since 2015 and have never replaced the serpentine belt. I DO carry an extra OEM belt in the boat. How can I tell if the belt it bad or not? I've included some photos taken recently.
